PM Modi Attacks TMC Ahead of Malda Rally
Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticised the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, calling the state government’s performance “misrule” and saying people are unhappy with its governance. His remarks came after the Mahayuti alliance’s strong win in the recent Maharashtra civic polls, which the BJP is using to boost momentum ahead of upcoming West Bengal elections.
Malda Rally and Campaign Focus
Modi is scheduled to address a public rally in Malda, West Bengal, as part of the BJP’s campaign efforts. During the visit he will also flag off several development initiatives, including the launch of a new Vande Bharat Sleeper train service connecting Howrah to Assam’s Kamakhya, aiming to highlight infrastructure progress.
Political Backdrop and Opposition Response
The political temperature in West Bengal remains high with both BJP and TMC intensifying their rhetoric. The TMC, led by Mamata Banerjee, rejects the BJP’s criticism and accuses it of politicising administrative issues. Meanwhile, the BJP frames the campaign around alleged governance failures in the state and promises of change.
