PM Modi Announces ₹1,500 Crore Aid for Himachal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted an aerial survey of flood- and landslide-affected areas in Himachal Pradesh—including Mandi and Kullu—before meeting with state leaders and officials in Kangra to assess relief and rehabilitation needs.
₹1,500 Crore Relief Package
The Centre has announced an immediate financial assistance of ₹1,500 crore to aid the state’s recovery. This includes an advance release of funds from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and the second instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi.
Multi-Pronged Relief Measures
As part of the relief plan, ex-gratia payments have been declared: ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. The package also includes rebuilding homes under the PM Awas Yojana with geotagging for accurate damage assessment, restoring national highways, repairing schools under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, and providing mini-kits for livestock.
Long-Term Recovery and Water Projects
The relief efforts extend to improving water management through the construction of rainwater harvesting and recharge structures. Additional support has also been promised for farmers without power connections to help lift livelihoods that were impacted by the disaster.
