PM Modi Accuses Congress of Using States as ‘ATMs’ at Maharashtra Rally

At a rally in Akola ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp critique of the Congress, alleging that the party exploits states under its rule as financial sources.

Modi accused the Congress of using these states as “ATMs” for its leadership, stating, “Wherever a Congress government is formed, that state becomes the ATM of the party’s ‘shahi parivar’ (royal family). We won’t let Maharashtra become the ATM of the Congress.”

PM Modi Questions Congress’s Commitment to Ambedkar’s Legacy

Modi challenged Congress to prove its commitment to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s contributions, questioning their acknowledgment of Ambedkar’s “panchteerth.” This term, Modi noted, represents five significant sites associated with Ambedkar: his birthplace in Mhow, residence in London, Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur where he embraced Buddhism, Mahaparinirvan Sthal in Delhi, and Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai.

Modi Calls for Unity Against Congress’s Alleged Divisive Politics

Citing an example from Haryana, Modi encouraged the people of Maharashtra to resist Congress’s divisive tactics. “People of Haryana foiled the conspiracy of the Congress by following the ‘Ek hain toh safe hain’ (we are safe if we are united) mantra,” he remarked. He accused the Congress of attempting to sow division, asserting, “The Congress knows it can gain strength only by weakening the country through tactics like pitting one caste against another.”

Modi also criticized the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra, describing it as plagued by “corruption and scams worth thousands of crores of rupees.”

A Call for Voter Support for the BJP-Led Mahayuti Alliance

Highlighting his government’s accomplishments, Modi said, “In my first two terms as PM, I have provided four crore pucca houses to the poor.” He appealed to Maharashtra voters to support the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in the upcoming election.

Reflecting on the date of November 9, he also referenced the Supreme Court’s 2019 verdict on the Ram Temple, commending citizens of all religions for their sensitivity after the historic ruling. Modi closed his speech by expressing gratitude to Maharashtra’s people for their continued support of the BJP, citing their “patriotism, political understanding, and vision.”
