PM Internship Scheme Offers 90,000+ Opportunities: Eligibility and Benefits

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme has opened the door to more than 90,800 internship opportunities, with 193 companies offering placements across various industries.

Major corporations such as Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motors, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Muthoot Finance, and Reliance Industries are among those participating. Registrations for the scheme will begin on October 12, with the portal being open for companies to submit opportunities since October 3.

Key Details of the PM Internship Scheme

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme is a flagship government initiative designed to provide youth with valuable work experience. Aimed at India’s top 500 enterprises, the program will offer internships across diverse sectors, helping young applicants acquire practical skills and industry knowledge. The scheme is set to provide one crore internships over the next five years, creating vast opportunities for India’s youth.

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

To apply for the internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Applicants should be between 21 and 24 years old.
  • Educational Qualifications: Eligible candidates must possess a certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI), a diploma from a Polytechnic Institute, or a bachelor’s degree such as BA, B.Sc., B.Com., BCA, BBA, or B.Pharma. They must also have completed their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), or equivalent qualifications.
  • Residency: Candidates must be permanent residents of India.

Exclusions and Ineligibility

Certain individuals are not eligible for the scheme. This includes candidates under 21 or over 24 years of age, full-time employees or students, and graduates from elite institutions like IITs, IISER, and National Law Universities. Additionally, candidates with advanced degrees such as MBA, PhD, or professional certifications (e.g., CA, CMA, CS, MBBS) are not eligible. Other exclusions include participants in government-funded training programs, candidates with a family income exceeding ₹8 lakh, and individuals whose family members are employed by the government or public sector.
