PM GatiShakti Revolutionizes India’s Infrastructure and Connectivity
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PM NMP) for its transformative role in revolutionizing India’s infrastructure.
In a recent social media post, PM Modi emphasized how GatiShakti is accelerating multimodal connectivity, enhancing logistics, and driving job creation, all crucial components for achieving a “Viksit Bharat” or developed India.
PM GatiShakti Boosts Job Creation and Innovation
Launched in October 2021, PM GatiShakti is designed to integrate and synchronize the country’s infrastructure development. By promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, the plan is helping India achieve faster economic growth while ensuring seamless coordination between various sectors and stakeholders. This initiative, Modi noted, is essential for driving India’s progress, streamlining logistics, and creating new job opportunities.
Infrastructure Development at a Global Scale
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry highlighted PM GatiShakti’s third anniversary with a special study on its achievements. The ministry stated that the plan is being elevated to an international level, with diplomatic engagements underway between India and countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and others. These engagements aim to promote the use of geospatial technology in integrated infrastructure planning, further strengthening India’s global ties.
Enhanced Logistics and Multi-modal Connectivity
Since its launch, PM GatiShakti has brought together 44 central ministries and 36 states and union territories (UTs), integrating over 1600 data layers for infrastructure planning. This unified approach has helped streamline capital investment and accelerate regional development. Over 533 infrastructure projects have been mapped on the GatiShakti portal by states and UTs, allowing for better coordination and efficiency.
The initiative has also aligned with the National Logistics Policy (NLP), addressing critical infrastructure gaps, reducing logistics costs, and significantly improving India’s logistics performance. More than 200 major infrastructure projects have been evaluated by the Networking Planning Group (NPG) under the framework of PM GatiShakti, ensuring efficient execution.
As PM GatiShakti continues to expand, it is poised to shape India’s path toward a Viksit Bharat, revolutionizing infrastructure, connectivity, and economic growth for decades to come.
