Piyush Goyal to Visit Israel to Review Trade and Investment Ties
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is scheduled to travel to Israel from 20 to 22 November 2025, leading a delegation of around 60 business representatives. The visit aims to deepen cooperation with Israel in trade, technology and investment. Multiple high-level meetings are planned with senior Israeli ministers and business leaders to chart the next phase of bilateral economic engagement.
Focus on Free Trade Agreement and Sectors
A key agenda item is the status review of the proposed India-Israel Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which both sides intend to progress. Discussions will span multiple strategic sectors including agriculture, water management, defence technology, life sciences, smart manufacturing, infrastructure and emerging technologies. Goyal’s visit also includes participation in the India-Israel Business Forum and CEOs’ roundtable to foster B2B partnerships.
Strategic and Economic Significance
The trip underscores the strengthening of India-Israel economic ties beyond defence and security into trade and innovation domains. By foregrounding the FTA review, India signals ambition to elevate bilateral trade volumes and investment flows. The business delegation hints at a push to diversify Israeli investment into Indian industry while encouraging Indian companies to explore Israel’s tech ecosystem. Outcomes of the visit could include new memoranda of understanding and roadmap commitments for sectors where Israel holds global leadership.
