Pentagon Prepares for Possible New Iran Strikes
The Pentagon has instructed US Central Command to complete preparations for a possible resumption of major military operations against Iran, although President Donald Trump has not yet decided whether or when fresh strikes will be launched.
Pentagon Prepares Options for Fresh Iran Strikes
US military planners are developing options that could include strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, energy infrastructure and other strategic targets.
The preparations do not amount to an order to attack, and no timetable has been finalised.
Trump has reportedly asked military officials to ensure options are available before the November 3 US midterm elections, although the scale and timing of any operation remain under discussion.
Trump Yet to Approve New Iran Operation
The preparations come as diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran remain stalled.
The United States continues to demand significant restrictions on Iran’s uranium enrichment programme, while Tehran has resisted Washington’s terms and rejected pressure to make major concessions before negotiations resume.
Iran has warned that renewed US attacks could trigger a stronger military response and potentially widen the conflict across the region.
US Military Presence Around Iran Expands
Washington has been strengthening its military posture across the Middle East, including additional naval forces and air-defence systems.
The US is also expanding the number of military assets available in the region, giving the administration greater flexibility if Trump authorises another round of strikes.
Despite the preparations, the final decision on any renewed military action remains with the President.
