PCB to Complain to ICC Over India U19 Conduct

The Pakistan Cricket Board has said it will lodge a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council over the conduct of some members of the India Under-19 cricket team during the Under-19 Asia Cup final. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi alleged that Indian players repeatedly provoked their Pakistani counterparts during the match.

Pakistan went on to win the final convincingly, but Naqvi said the on-field behaviour overshadowed the sporting outcome. He stated that the PCB would formally raise the issue with the ICC, stressing that youth tournaments should uphold high standards of sportsmanship.

Allegations of Provocation During Final

According to the PCB, there were several verbal exchanges and heated moments during the game that it believes crossed acceptable conduct standards. The board said such actions were not in keeping with the spirit of cricket, particularly at the under-19 level where players are still developing professionally.

Naqvi said Pakistan celebrated its victory without incident but felt compelled to act to ensure discipline and respect are maintained in international youth competitions.

India Yet to Respond Publicly

As of now, Indian cricket authorities have not issued a public response to the PCB’s announcement. Match officials’ reports and any available footage are expected to be key factors if the ICC decides to examine the complaint.

What Happens Next

If a formal submission is made, the ICC will review the matter under its code of conduct procedures. Any decision would depend on evidence and officials’ assessments rather than public statements. The episode highlights how intense rivalries can extend to youth cricket and the growing focus on behaviour alongside performance.
