PCB Dismisses PSL Overseas Player Fears

The Pakistan Cricket Board has dismissed concerns over the participation of overseas players in the Pakistan Super League, saying travel plans remain on track despite security worries triggered by the recent Pakistan airstrike on Afghanistan. The reassurance comes as the league prepares for its 11th season, with a large group of foreign players, including several Australians, expected to feature.

PCB Dismisses PSL Security Concerns

A PCB source said reports suggesting that Australian players were hesitant about travelling to Pakistan were not accurate. According to the board’s position, all travel arrangements remain in place and overseas signings are expected to begin arriving from next week. The response appears aimed at calming speculation around player availability ahead of the new season.

Overseas Players Expected For PSL 11

The upcoming edition of the PSL is set to include a strong overseas presence, particularly from Australia. Players linked with the tournament include Steve Smith, David Warner, Adam Zampa, Aaron Hardie, Marnus Labuschagne, Ashton Turner, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Josh Philippe, Riley Meredith and Ben McDermott. Their participation is considered important for the tournament’s profile, especially as PSL continues to compete for attention during a crowded global cricket calendar.

Pakistan League Begins Amid Regional Tension

The 11th edition of the PSL is scheduled to begin on March 26. One point of concern in recent reports was Peshawar, which is due to host one match and lies relatively close to the Afghanistan border. The PCB, however, has said it has dealt with bigger challenges in the past and remains alert to the situation. This season will also be notable because the tournament is expanding to eight teams for the first time and will again overlap with the Indian Premier League.
