Pawan Kalyan Says It Is Sad Hindus Need Court To Worship
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said it is “sad and disappointing” that Hindus have to depend on judicial intervention to practise their faith. His comments came after a dispute over religious rituals at a temple site became a legal matter.
Issue Linked To Temple Ritual
The controversy relates to the lighting of a ceremonial lamp at Thirupparankundram, a traditional ritual performed during the Tamil month of Karthigai. Although courts had ruled that the ritual could be carried out, administrative objections continued, leading to confusion for devotees.
Remarks On Religious Freedom
Pawan Kalyan said the fact that a peaceful, long-standing tradition required court permission raises questions about religious freedom. He argued that customs tied to specific dates should not be postponed and that official interference in temple practices was unacceptable.
Call For Institutional Solution
He repeated his view that an independent system is required to protect Hindu temple traditions. According to him, repeated disputes over rituals highlight the need for reforms in how temple affairs are handled. The comments have sparked a debate over religious rights and administrative roles in cultural practices.
