Passenger Vehicle Dispatches Rise 27% in December 2025
Passenger vehicle dispatches from manufacturers to dealers in India rose 27% year on year in December 2025, reflecting strong demand, particularly for utility vehicles, according to industry data released by SIAM.
Total passenger vehicle dispatches stood at just under 4 lakh units in December, compared with about 3.15 lakh units in the same month a year earlier. The growth was led by sport utility vehicles, which continued to outperform other segments amid steady consumer interest and year-end buying.
Other Segments Also See Growth
The two-wheeler segment also recorded a sharp increase, with dispatches rising significantly on a year-on-year basis during the month. Three-wheeler dispatches posted moderate growth, supported by improving demand in both passenger and goods categories.
Industry Outlook Remains Positive
Automakers said the strong December performance helped the industry close calendar year 2025 on a positive note. Industry representatives pointed to stable macroeconomic conditions, festive season demand spillover, and improved supply conditions as key factors supporting growth.
SIAM said the momentum seen in December has carried into the final quarter of the fiscal year, with manufacturers cautiously optimistic about demand trends in the coming months.
