Passenger Booked After IndiGo Exit Scare
A passenger on a Bengaluru to Varanasi IndiGo flight was booked after allegedly trying to open the emergency exit door shortly before landing, forcing the pilot to abort the first landing attempt and take the aircraft back into the air. The flight landed safely a few minutes later at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, and no injuries were reported.
IndiGo Passenger Tries To Open Emergency Exit
According to officials, the incident took place on IndiGo flight 6E-185 on Saturday night as the aircraft was approaching Varanasi. The passenger allegedly attempted to open the emergency exit door moments before touchdown, prompting immediate action from the crew and cockpit. The pilot then carried out a go-around as a safety measure before the aircraft landed safely around 10:35 pm.
Passenger Restrained By Crew During Flight
Officials said the same passenger had also tried to tamper with the emergency exit shortly after takeoff from Bengaluru, but cabin crew managed to restrain and calm him down. After the plane landed, he was handed over to airline security, CISF personnel and then local police. The passenger was identified as Mohammad Adnan, 26.
Police Book Accused After Questioning
Police said the man initially claimed he was under the influence of a ghost during questioning, but later told investigators that he did not know pressing the emergency exit handle could open the aircraft door. A case was registered under Section 125 for an act endangering life or personal safety of others. After questioning, police served him notice and later handed him over to his parents, while the investigation continued.
