The Monsoon Session of Parliament will begin on July 20 and continue until August 13, 2026, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Saturday.
Parliament Monsoon Session 2026 Dates
Kiren Rijiju said President Droupadi Murmu has approved the government’s recommendation to summon both Houses of Parliament for the Monsoon Session 2026.
The session will run from July 20 to August 13 and is expected to include debates, legislative business and discussions on issues of national importance. The schedule gives Parliament nearly four weeks to take up pending bills, policy matters and other business listed by the government.
Lok Sabha And Rajya Sabha To Convene
Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will meet during the session, subject to the requirements of parliamentary business. The government is expected to use the session to move key legislative proposals and respond to issues raised by Opposition parties.
The Monsoon Session is one of the three regular parliamentary sessions held each year, along with the Budget Session and Winter Session. It often becomes a platform for detailed debate on governance, national security, economy, agriculture, federal issues and other current matters.
Kiren Rijiju Announces Session Schedule
Rijiju said the session would be used for meaningful debate, discussion and decisions on issues of national importance. The announcement formally sets the parliamentary calendar for the next major legislative sitting of 2026.
The final list of bills and agenda items is expected to be decided closer to the session after consultations within the government and Parliament’s business advisory process.
