Paras Mhambrey Returns to Mumbai Indians as Bowling Coach
Former India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has rejoined the Mumbai Indians as their bowling coach, the IPL franchise announced on Wednesday.
The 52-year-old, whose tenure as India’s bowling coach concluded in June after India’s T20 World Cup victory in the Americas, returns to the five-time IPL champions to strengthen their coaching team for the upcoming season.
Mhambrey Joins Experienced Coaching Team
Mhambrey will work closely with fellow bowling coach Lasith Malinga and head coach Mahela Jayawardene. Malinga, a former Mumbai Indians legend, and Jayawardene, who rejoined the team earlier this week after a two-year hiatus, form a strong coaching setup aimed at reclaiming the IPL title. Jayawardene previously led Mumbai Indians to three IPL titles between 2017 and 2022, establishing himself as a key figure in the team’s success.
Mhambrey’s Previous Stints with Mumbai Indians
This return marks Mhambrey’s second stint with the Mumbai Indians. He previously served as the bowling coach during their IPL-winning campaign in 2013 and contributed to their success in the Champions League T20 in 2010, 2011, and 2013. His experience and familiarity with the team dynamics are expected to bring additional strength to Mumbai Indians’ bowling unit as they prepare for the next season.
With Mhambrey’s return, Mumbai Indians aim to build a balanced team under a seasoned coaching trio, setting high hopes for a successful IPL 2024 campaign. The franchise is looking to leverage his expertise to further develop their bowling attack and foster new talent for the future.
