Pakistan’s Defence Minister Accuses US Politicians of Open Bribery

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said American politicians openly accept bribes from Israel, contrasting them with Pakistan, which he claimed is being defamed over corruption allegations. He made the remarks in an interview on Geo TV.

Comments on Transparency

Asif specifically criticised what he called a double standard in how corruption is viewed in Pakistan versus the US. “American politicians accept bribes from Israel openly. If I have to take bribes, I will do it in a backroom somewhere,” he said.

Targeted Institutions

He pointed to the U.S. House of Representatives, military bureaucracy, and other parts of the ruling elite as those allegedly involved with financing Israel or its lobbies. According to him, these elements operate with less scrutiny than in Pakistan.

Reaction & Criticism

Asif’s remarks drew criticism from opposition parties within Pakistan. Some media reports described his statement as provocative and lacking evidence. There has been no official response from U.S. authorities so far.
