Pakistani Minister Threatens India Over Army Chief Remarks
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif issued a strong warning to India, responding to remarks made by India’s Army Chief. He said that if New Delhi continues inflammatory rhetoric, Pakistan will retaliate aggressively, declaring India would be “buried under the wreckage of its warplanes.”
Trigger: Army Chief’s Warning
The row escalated after Indian Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi warned that if Pakistan does not stop sponsoring terrorism, its existence could be threatened. The Chief also said that the restraint shown by India in previous operations would no longer be maintained.
Asif’s Response
Asif condemned the statements as “provocative” and part of political theater to regain credibility. He asserted Pakistan’s willingness to retaliate and accused India of stirring up tensions. He emphasized that military conflict cannot be one sided.
Regional Tensions
The exchange intensifies already high tensions between the two countries following India’s Operation Sindoor, a cross-border action targeting terror infrastructure. Border skirmishes and mutual accusations of supporting militant groups have also added strain.
Diplomatic Concerns
Diplomats express concern that such escalating threats could spiral into miscalculations. International actors are monitoring the situation closely, calling for restraint and dialogue to prevent further escalation.
At this moment, both countries continue to posture militarily, and the coming days may test whether rhetoric turns into action.
