Pakistani Drone Spotted Over India’s Samba District
A drone identified as coming from Pakistani territory was observed hovering over Regal village in the Ghagwal area of the Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir late Friday. The device appeared from the direction of the Chak Bhura post in Pakistan, remained in Indian airspace for a few minutes and then returned across the border, officials said.
Security Forces Conduct Area Sweep
Following the sighting, Indian border security and local police carried out a search operation to verify whether any payload—such as weapons or narcotics—had been dropped. Officials confirmed that no airdrop was detected during the sweep. Authorities emphasised vigilance in the area and said regular monitoring has been intensified.
Implications for Border Security
The incident underscores the ongoing challenge of unmanned aerial systems being used along the India-Pakistan border. While this event did not result in any immediate breach or drop of materials, it serves as a reminder for enhanced surveillance and prevention measures in forward villages. Border forces say they are prepared and are keeping close watch on possible repeat intrusions.
