Pakistan Won’t Boycott T20 World Cup Over Bangladesh Issue – Report
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to consider boycotting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in support of Bangladesh after the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected Bangladesh’s request to move their matches from India to Sri Lanka. Latif said such a boycott could show solidarity and challenge current cricket governance.
Pakistan’s Position
Despite Latif’s remarks, the PCB has not officially decided to withdraw from the tournament. Reports indicate Pakistan is expected to play in the T20 World Cup as scheduled in India and Sri Lanka, and will not boycott the event over this issue.
Bangladesh Crisis
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has raised security concerns and sought to shift its fixtures out of India, but the ICC maintained the original schedule, leaving Bangladesh’s participation uncertain. Bangladesh faces the possibility of being replaced if it refuses to travel to India under tournament rules.
Tournament Status
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on February 7, 2026 across India and Sri Lanka, with Pakistan confirmed as a participant and Bangladesh still deliberating its stance.
