Pakistan Violates LoC Ceasefire for Second Night; Indian Army Retaliates

In a major escalation of tensions, Pakistani forces opened unprovoked fire at multiple Indian Army posts along the Line of Control (LoC) for the second consecutive night. The Indian Army responded promptly and firmly to the provocation, ensuring no casualties were reported on the Indian side.

According to official statements, “On the night of 25th-26th of April 2025, unprovoked small arms firing was carried out by multiple Pakistan Army posts all across the Line of Control in Kashmir. Indian troops responded appropriately with small arms. No casualties reported.”

The repeated ceasefire violations have raised alarm, particularly as they follow closely on the heels of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including several tourists. India has strongly linked the recent terror incident to Pakistan-based militant networks, leading to a sharp deterioration in bilateral relations.

India’s Retaliatory Measures After Pahalgam Attack

Following the terror strike in Pahalgam, India initiated a series of strong countermeasures against Pakistan. These include:

  • Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, cutting off key water resources.

  • Expulsion of Pakistani diplomats and suspension of visas for Pakistani nationals.

  • Closure of the Attari-Wagah border crossing for civilian and trade movement.

These actions reflect India’s intensified stance against cross-border terrorism and its sponsors. The Indian government has made it clear that provocations along the LoC will be met with decisive and proportionate military responses.

Rising Regional Tensions and Global Concerns

Pakistan has officially denied any involvement in the Pahalgam attack and, in retaliation to India’s actions, closed its airspace to Indian flights, suspended bilateral trade, and expelled Indian diplomatic staff. Both nations are now engaged in symbolic and real retaliations, with military preparedness levels elevated on both sides of the border.

The recent spate of ceasefire violations adds to the fragile and deteriorating situation. International observers and organizations have urged both nations to exercise restraint and open diplomatic channels to avoid a full-scale escalation. However, analysts warn that the current trajectory, marked by aggressive posturing and retaliatory actions, risks spiraling into a broader conflict if not swiftly contained.

India remains firm on its position that any further provocations will receive an uncompromising response, signaling a toughened doctrine in dealing with Pakistan’s actions along the border.
