Pakistan Says No Ban on Imran Khan’s Sons Visiting Jail
The Pakistan government has clarified that there is no official ban preventing former prime minister Imran Khan’s sons from meeting him in Adiala Jail, where he is currently detained. Interior State Minister Talal Chaudhry said on Saturday that if Khan’s sons choose to travel to Pakistan and apply for visas, they will be allowed to visit their father.
Government Position
Officials addressed widespread concerns about restrictions on family visits by stating that there has been no embargo or formal order stopping Khan’s sons, Suleman Khan and Kasim Khan, from seeing him in prison. Chaudhry told reporters that the government will issue visas to the brothers if they request them. He urged an end to claims that the state is deliberately preventing family access.
Family Concerns
Khan’s sons, who live abroad, have previously expressed fears about their father’s welfare in detention and said they had limited contact with him for months. They have described barriers to communication and visitation, raising questions about transparency in his imprisonment conditions. Their comments have drawn attention to how high-profile prisoners are managed and the rights of family members to visit.
Broader Context
Imran Khan has been in prison since August 2023 facing multiple legal cases. Supporters and human rights observers have periodically raised concerns about conditions of his detention and access to legal and family contact. The government, however, insists that Khan’s rights are being upheld and that family visits are permitted under normal legal processes.
