Asif Ali Zardari Claims India Preparing For War
Speaking at a public event, President Asif Ali Zardari alleged that India was gearing up for potential military escalation. He called for diplomatic engagement and stressed the importance of talks to reduce tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
Zardari’s remarks come months after India carried out Operation Sindoor, a counterterror operation that heightened military alert levels along the border. While Pakistan criticised the operation, India maintained it was a targeted security response.
Operation Sindoor And Rising India Pakistan Tensions
Operation Sindoor was launched following security incidents that India attributed to cross-border elements. The operation led to diplomatic exchanges and increased military preparedness on both sides.
Since then, ceasefire mechanisms along the Line of Control have remained under close watch, though periodic statements from leaders in both countries have reflected continuing mistrust.
Call For Talks Amid Regional Uncertainty
President Zardari emphasised dialogue as the preferred path forward, urging both sides to avoid escalation. He stated that regional stability and economic development depend on sustained peace.
Indian authorities have not officially responded to the latest remarks. Analysts note that India has consistently maintained that talks and terror cannot go together, reiterating its position in previous bilateral engagements.
