Pakistan Issues Airspace Alert In Response To India’s ‘Ex Trishul’

Pakistan has responded to India’s large-scale tri-services exercise ‘Ex Trishul’ by issuing a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) restricting its own airspace on October 28 and 29. The move came days before India begins the exercise along its western frontier, particularly in the Sir Creek region near the maritime boundary.

India’s Exercise Trishul

India has planned ‘Ex Trishul’ from October 30 to November 10, involving the Army, Navy and Air Force in joint drills. The exercise will include amphibious operations, electronic warfare, intelligence gathering and air-space coordination. Indian authorities have already issued a NOTAM covering airspace up to 28,000 feet for the duration of the exercise, highlighting the scale of operations.

Strategic Significance

While Pakistan has not publicly explained its airspace restrictions, defence analysts say the timing suggests a direct response to India’s drill. The move is seen as a signal of caution and preparedness from Islamabad, amid heightened tensions along the border.

Message Of Deterrence

Observers note that such counter-measures are common when large-scale military activities take place near contested zones. Pakistan’s NOTAM reflects its intent to keep watch on India’s exercise and to demonstrate readiness, even without direct confrontation.
