Pakistan FM Distances from Trump’s 20-Point Gaza Plan

Pakistani Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar declared on October 3, 2025, that the 20-point Gaza peace plan announced by U.S. President Donald Trump does not reflect Pakistan’s version. He told Parliament that “changes were made” to the published plan and that it diverges from a draft supported by Muslim-majority nations.

Divergence Over Draft and Final Text

Dar explained that the earlier draft, which Pakistan had backed, was altered in key areas before public release. He said the final plan does not align with the version Pakistan advocated. He was firm in asserting: “These 20 points … are not ours.”

Trump’s Plan and Global Response

Trump’s peace proposal seeks to end the Israel–Hamas war via a ceasefire, return of hostages within 72 hours, and reconstruction of Gaza under international oversight. While Israel has accepted the plan, Hamas’ reaction remains uncertain, and many Muslim countries have expressed reservations about several terms.

Pakistan’s Position and Next Steps

Dar signalled that Pakistan’s leadership would deliberate on whether to support a special peacekeeping force in Gaza proposed under the plan. He also warned against politicising the issue and emphasized that Pakistan has not formally endorsed the current version.
