Pakistan Envoy Heads To China Over Iran War
Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to visit China as the Iran war enters its fifth week, with uncertainty still surrounding possible talks between Washington and Tehran. The visit comes at a time when both Pakistan and China are publicly backing dialogue, even as signals from the United States and Iran remain mixed.
Pakistan Foreign Minister To Visit China
Dar is travelling to China on Tuesday at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. According to Pakistan’s foreign ministry, the two sides are expected to discuss regional developments and broader bilateral issues. The visit highlights growing coordination between Islamabad and Beijing as the Middle East conflict continues to unsettle global energy markets and regional diplomacy.
Pakistan Pushes US Iran Talks
Pakistan has in recent days presented itself as willing to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran. Islamabad hosted the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt on Sunday for talks focused on the conflict. Dar also said Pakistan would be honoured to host and support meaningful talks between Washington and Tehran if both sides agreed.
China Supports Pakistan Mediation Efforts
China has backed Pakistan’s mediation push and called for communication aimed at de-escalation and peace. At the same time, the prospects for actual US-Iran talks remain unclear. President Donald Trump has sent mixed signals on whether negotiations are underway, while Iran has repeatedly denied that formal talks with the United States are taking place. The uncertainty has kept diplomatic expectations low even as regional players continue exploring ways to reduce tensions.
