Pakistan Captain Criticises Venue Planning After Winless World Cup

Pakistan’s women’s cricket team ended their 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup campaign without a single win, drawing frustration from captain Fatima Sana. The team suffered four defeats, while three matches were washed out due to persistent rain in Colombo.

Rain Hampers Pakistan’s Campaign

Their final group match against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium was abandoned after just 4.2 overs, denying Pakistan another opportunity to secure a victory. The series of washouts left the team winless and deeply disappointed.

Fatima Sana’s Strong Words

Speaking after the abandoned game, Sana said, “We’ve waited four years for this tournament. The weather didn’t go in our favour.” She criticised the International Cricket Council (ICC) for hosting games in rain-prone venues and urged better planning in the future to ensure fairness for all teams.

Team’s Performance Review

While Pakistan showed promise in bowling and fielding, their batting lacked consistency. Sana admitted that the team must address these weaknesses to improve results in upcoming tournaments. The captain stressed that preparation and planning will be key as they look ahead to future competitions.
