Pakistan Army Chief Threatens Jamnagar Refinery
Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has openly named Reliance Industries Ltd’s Jamnagar refinery in Gujarat as a potential target in any future conflict with India. The facility, known as the world’s largest single-site oil refining complex, is a critical part of India’s energy and economic infrastructure.
Munir reportedly endorsed a social media post featuring Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani alongside a Quranic verse, claiming it was intended to signal what could happen “next time.” He also issued a wider nuclear warning, drawing a strong reaction from New Delhi.
Strategic Asset in the Crosshairs
The statement marks a shift in Pakistan’s military rhetoric by directly threatening economic infrastructure rather than solely military or strategic locations. Defence experts have warned that such targeting of civilian facilities risks a dangerous escalation.
Regional and International Concerns
India’s leadership dismissed the remarks as reckless and provocative, reiterating that threats against vital economic hubs will not weaken its strategic position. International observers have voiced concern that such rhetoric undermines regional stability and increases the risk of miscalculation.
