Pahalgam Probe Will Put Pakistan in the Dock: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack will place Pakistan in the dock before the international community. Addressing a counter-terrorism conference, Shah said the probe is being conducted in a thorough and professional manner and its findings will clearly establish how the attack was planned, executed, and supported.

He stated that the investigation will serve as a reference point for global counter-terror agencies and reinforce India’s position on cross-border terrorism. According to Shah, the evidence gathered will demonstrate the role of terror groups operating from across the border and expose the ecosystem that enables such attacks.

Details of the Pahalgam Attack

The terror attack took place in April 2025 in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, a popular tourist destination. Armed attackers opened fire on civilians, killing 26 people, most of whom were tourists. The incident triggered widespread condemnation across India and led to heightened security measures in the region.

Security agencies later identified the attackers as members linked to Pakistan-based terror outfits. Subsequent operations by Indian security forces resulted in the killing of all the terrorists involved, officials said.

Security Response and Wider Implications

Shah said India’s response after the attack was swift and decisive, combining intelligence-based operations with coordinated action on the ground. He added that strengthening databases, inter-agency coordination, and international cooperation remains a priority for preventing future attacks.

The Home Minister emphasised that presenting credible investigative findings at global forums is essential to counter denial and misinformation on terrorism, and to push for greater accountability of states that shelter or support terror groups.
