Pahalgam Attack Planned By Pakistan, Says Intel
Intelligence agencies have confirmed that the deadly terror attack near Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 people, was orchestrated by Pakistan’s military and political leadership. The plot was executed with the involvement of ISI handlers and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives, using only Pakistani terrorists to maintain operational secrecy and prevent links to local networks.
Lashkar’s Foreign Operatives Involved
Officials revealed that Sajid Jutt, a senior Lashkar commander, was one of the main handlers behind the plan. The attackers were trained and deployed from across the border, with strict orders to avoid recruiting any local Kashmiri militants.
Among the key figures identified was Sulaiman, believed to be a former Pakistani commando, whose satellite movements were tracked in the Tral forests just days before the attack. He is also linked to the 2023 Poonch ambush, according to officials.
TRF Claim Withdrawn
While the Resistance Front (TRF) briefly claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam ambush, the statement was later withdrawn. Investigators have found no signs of local planning, though two Kashmiri civilians are in custody for providing shelter to the attackers.
Indian Response And Fallout
In response, authorities launched Operation Sindoor, one of India’s largest counter-terror measures since 2008. Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha accepted that there was a security lapse and promised sweeping reforms to prevent future incidents.
The attack has once again drawn attention to Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism, especially through proxy groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and its affiliates.
