Owaisi Says Modi-Xi Meet Ignored Key Indian Concerns
AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying it “failed to answer the critical questions” Indians wanted addressed. Key issues remain unaddressed, including China’s support for Pakistan during military operations, the extension of CPEC into Afghanistan, and lack of clarity on sharing hydrological data on cross-border rivers.
Border and Resource Worries
Owaisi highlighted persistent concerns in Ladakh, where Indian soldiers reportedly cannot patrol buffer zones and local graziers face restricted access after 2020. He also noted that China made no commitments on the resumption of rare earths supplies or increasing imports from India—issues of strategic and economic importance.
Call for Substantive Engagement
“These are the issues that matter to Indians, not the photo-op or the décor,” Owaisi emphasized. He underscored that beyond optics, meaningful dialogue on security, resource sharing, and economic cooperation is what citizens expect from high-level diplomatic encounters.
