Owaisi Rebukes Bangladesh Aide Over Northeast Remarks

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has lashed out at retired Bangladeshi Major General ALM Fazlur Rahman, an aide to Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, over his inflammatory remarks suggesting that Bangladesh should join hands with China to occupy India’s northeastern states if India retaliates against Pakistan for the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Speaking at a public rally in Kishanganj, Bihar, Owaisi delivered a sharp rebuttal to Rahman’s provocative statement. “You must remember that you owe your existence as an independent country to India,” Owaisi said, referencing India’s crucial role in Bangladesh’s liberation in 1971. He called Rahman’s comments ungrateful, incendiary, and a dangerous departure from the spirit of friendly bilateral relations.

Owaisi Condemns Pakistan’s Failures

Seizing the moment, Owaisi also took aim at Pakistan, describing it as a “failed nation” that has failed to maintain peace within its own ethnic and religious communities and has hostile relations with almost all of its neighbors. He underscored that India is, and always will be, far stronger than Pakistan on every front—military, political, and moral.

Calls for Action Against Terror Sponsors

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, Owaisi called on the Indian government to push for Pakistan’s re-inclusion on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, citing its continued support for terrorism. While acknowledging steps like curbing Pakistani ships and aircraft, Owaisi stressed that these alone are not enough and that more comprehensive action is warranted.

Rejecting Anti-India Rhetoric

He also responded to recent aggressive statements from Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, by asserting the national identity of Indian Muslims. “Muslims in India had rejected the idea of Pakistan in 1947 and chose to stay in India. Their descendants will not leave this land under any circumstances,” Owaisi stated, drawing applause from the audience.

The Bangladeshi government, meanwhile, has distanced itself from Fazlur Rahman’s remarks, indicating that they do not represent its official position. However, no formal diplomatic response has been issued by India yet. Owaisi’s comments have added to the growing chorus demanding a firmer and more assertive Indian stance on both regional security and diplomatic provocations.
