Over 200 Deplaned After AC Fault On Delhi-Singapore Flight
More than 200 passengers on Air India flight AI2380 bound for Singapore had to deplane at Delhi airport after being seated for almost two hours. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner suffered a failure in its air conditioning and electric supply systems.
Cause And Response
Air India confirmed the delay was due to a “cabin cooling issue on ground prior to departure.” Crew did not immediately provide a full explanation to passengers before they were escorted back to the terminal.
Passenger Experience
Passengers reported high cabin heat and discomfort. Videos shared on social media showed people using magazines and newspapers to fan themselves. Aerobridges were not yet in full use at that point, increasing discomfort.
Duration And Departure
After the deplaning and waiting in the terminal, the airline arranged a replacement aircraft. The flight finally departed at 5:36 AM IST, roughly six hours behind the scheduled 11:00 PM departure the previous night.
Airline’s Remarks
Air India expressed regret for the inconvenience and said passengers were kept informed throughout. The airline also provided refreshments and meals while they waited.
