Operation Sindoor: Pakistan Puts Hospitals, Airports on Red Alert
Amid escalating tensions following India’s Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has placed the entire country on red alert. Government hospitals, emergency services, and airports have been instructed to prepare for any eventuality, as Islamabad braces for potential retaliation or further escalation.
Authorities confirmed that hospitals across all provinces, including Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have been directed to activate emergency protocols. Medical staff are on standby, trauma units are being reinforced, and additional medical supplies have been dispatched to key facilities. The move comes as Pakistan anticipates the possibility of injuries resulting from border clashes or internal unrest.
Meanwhile, airports in major cities such as Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi have been placed under heightened surveillance. Air traffic controllers have been issued fresh advisories, and military aircraft presence around critical installations has reportedly increased. Civil aviation has also implemented contingency measures, including runway readiness for medical evacuations.
Operation Sindoor Triggers Strategic Response
India’s airstrikes under Operation Sindoor targeted nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam massacre that killed 26 civilians. Pakistan has condemned the strikes as an act of aggression and vowed to respond “at a time and manner of its choosing.”
The red alert is part of Pakistan’s national emergency posture in anticipation of any subsequent developments. Border security forces have been reinforced, and civilian movement near the Line of Control is being tightly monitored. Some local schools near the border have also been temporarily shut.
Public Told to Stay Calm but Vigilant
While the Pakistani government has urged citizens to remain calm, the state of alert has created anxiety across urban and border areas. Authorities have advised the public to avoid panic buying or unnecessary movement and to follow instructions issued by local law enforcement and civil defense agencies.
The alert status also reflects Pakistan’s preparation for potential escalation, even as international actors urge both nations to return to diplomatic engagement and avoid further conflict.
