Operation Sindoor: ‘No Need to Panic,’ Says J&K CM Omar Abdullah

In the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reassured residents that there is no reason to panic. Addressing concerns over escalating tensions following India’s precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Abdullah stated that the situation within the Union Territory remains stable and under control.

“Right now, there is no need to panic. There is no shortage of essential commodities, no shortage of supplies in blood banks of hospitals…highway is open for traffic. There is no need for people to fear. They don’t have to run away from here. Schools in Jammu and Srinagar are open, though the airport in Srinagar is shut,” Abdullah said.

His statement comes amid heightened military activity across border regions and the temporary closure of Srinagar Airport. While precautionary measures have been put in place, including increased security deployment, the overall civic environment remains functional, with essential services continuing uninterrupted.

Life Continues in the Valley Amid Military Action

Despite the military escalation across the border, public transport remains operational, schools are functioning in major districts, and the supply chain for food, medicine, and fuel is intact. The Chief Minister’s office confirmed that emergency services are on alert, but there is no disruption in civil administration or hospital networks.

Omar Abdullah’s address aims to counter misinformation and rumors that may trigger unnecessary fear or migration. Authorities are also monitoring social media platforms to prevent the spread of panic-inducing content.

Administration on High Alert, But Assures Stability

While the situation at the Line of Control remains tense following India’s airstrikes on nine terror camps, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is maintaining high coordination with central agencies. Civil defense units and local police have been briefed to respond swiftly in case of any unforeseen developments.

With Srinagar Airport temporarily shut as a precautionary measure, authorities are coordinating alternative travel arrangements and advising citizens to avoid unnecessary movement near border areas.

The Chief Minister’s public reassurance reflects a broader effort by the state and central administration to maintain civilian morale and prevent any disruptions in daily life as national security operations continue.
