Operation Sindoor: India Warns of Fierce Response to Fresh Violations
In a stern message to Pakistan amid rising hostilities, India’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, confirmed that the Indian Army has been granted full operational autonomy to respond with force to any further ceasefire violations under the ongoing Operation Sindoor.
Addressing the media following heightened military tension along the Line of Control (LoC), Lt Gen Ghai provided details of his official communication with the Pakistani DGMO. “My communication with the Pak DGMO was conducted at 15:35 hrs yesterday and resulted in cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by either side with effect from 17:00 hrs, 10th of May, after he proposed that we cease hostilities,” he said.
He added that both sides had agreed to another round of talks scheduled for May 12 at noon to discuss long-term mechanisms for maintaining peace. However, that hope was quickly dashed. “Disappointingly, expectedly it took only a couple of hours for Pakistan Army to violate these arrangements by cross border and across Line of Control firing followed by drone intrusions through last night and in the early hours of today,” Ghai noted.
Ceasefire Violated Hours After Agreement
The fragile ceasefire arrangement, reached through hotline communication between the DGMOs, was intended to ease tensions following a series of retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor. Yet, Pakistan’s swift breach has only reaffirmed India’s long-standing skepticism about Islamabad’s commitment to peace.
India Issues Strong Warning
“These violations were responded to robustly,” the DGMO asserted, revealing that Indian forces acted immediately to neutralize the provocations. “We have earlier today sent another hotline message to my counterpart highlighting these violations… and our firm and clear intent to respond to these fiercely if repeated tonight, subsequently or later.”
The Indian Army’s readiness was further emphasized by the empowerment given by the top military leadership. “The Chief of Army Staff has granted full authority to our army commander for counteraction in case of any violation by Pakistan,” Lt Gen Ghai affirmed, signalling a no-tolerance posture going forward.
Operation Sindoor Escalates Strategic Posture
With Pakistan repeatedly breaching ceasefire terms and using drone intrusions as tactical provocations, India’s military response under Operation Sindoor has transitioned from defensive restraint to assertive deterrence. The rapid re-escalation only underscores the volatility of the current situation and India’s preparedness to counter any further provocation with calibrated force.
As dialogue continues to be undermined by action on the ground, the coming days may determine whether the two sides will return to diplomacy—or plunge into extended confrontation.
