Operation Sindoor Exposed Pakistan’s Failures: CDS
India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, has said that Pakistan’s recent constitutional and military leadership changes were forced by failures exposed during Operation Sindoor. He stated that the operation revealed serious shortcomings in Pakistan’s military and decision-making structures, prompting hurried reforms.
Speaking at a strategic forum, General Chauhan said the changes undertaken by Pakistan indicate an internal acknowledgment of weaknesses that came to light during the confrontation with India. He noted that the amendments were aimed at tightening command structures and addressing gaps exposed during the operation.
Background of Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor was launched by India in 2025 following a major terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Indian forces carried out targeted military actions aimed at terrorist infrastructure, leading to heightened tensions between the two countries. The situation remained controlled but exposed operational and coordination issues on the Pakistani side.
Strategic Assessment
General Chauhan said Pakistan’s response went beyond routine military adjustments and reflected deeper structural concerns. He added that India continues to review its own defence preparedness and joint command mechanisms based on lessons from the operation.
The CDS also remarked that Operation Sindoor should be seen as a signal of India’s evolving military posture, emphasising readiness, coordination, and sustained pressure against cross-border threats.
