General Chauhan spoke at a defence seminar titled “Aerospace Power: Preserving India’s Sovereignty and Furthering National Interests”, held under the No. 4 Warfare and Aerospace Strategy Programme at Subroto Park in New Delhi. He emphasized that modern warfare has evolved into a complex arena, merging information, technology, and academic understanding.

Highlighting the changing character of conflicts, Chauhan said future military personnel must become versatile, combining roles as “information warriors, technology warriors and scholar warriors.” He underlined that in today’s battlefield, speed of action—particularly in processing and acting on intelligence—matters more than ever.
Background on Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam. It included coordinated strikes on terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir. The operation concluded incoming hostilities by May 10, 2025, once a ceasefire was established. General Chauhan noted that the operation significantly disrupted militant capabilities.

Chauhan stressed the importance of pairing Shastra (warfare knowledge) with Shaastra (scholarly insight) to build a modern defence mindset. He warned that reliance on outdated technology is inadequate: “Yesterday’s weapons can’t win today’s wars,” he said, calling for indigenous and advanced solutions.
The speech comes as the Indian Air Force continues a large-scale exercise in Rajasthan to test readiness near the Pakistan border. The exercise involves live sorties, drone operations, and simulated precision strikes.
