Nvidia and AMD Chiefs Back Trump’s AI Push

The CEOs of Nvidia and AMD have voiced strong support for President Donald Trump’s new AI action plan, which aims to boost American leadership in artificial intelligence through relaxed regulations, expanded energy access, and a clampdown on what Trump calls “woke” AI systems.

Chipmakers Welcome Deregulation, Export Relaxation

At a recent industry roundtable in Washington, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and AMD CEO Lisa Su praised the administration’s proposals to fast-track permits for data centers and chip manufacturing facilities. The plan also seeks to ease export restrictions for advanced AI chips, especially to friendly countries, while encouraging international competitiveness.

Both leaders emphasized that the plan would strengthen America’s edge in semiconductor innovation and enable quicker rollout of next-generation AI infrastructure.

Trump’s Plan Targets Domestic Growth and Ideology

The AI framework includes new conditions for government procurement, barring AI tools that promote political bias or ideological content. It also proposes cutting off federal funding to U.S. states that introduce restrictive or anti-innovation AI laws. This is seen as an effort to counter what Trump has labeled the “bureaucratic war on AI progress.”

In addition, the plan advocates for expanding domestic energy production—especially nuclear and renewables—to meet the high power needs of AI computing.

Market and Political Impact

Following the announcement, Nvidia and AMD shares saw gains in market trading, reflecting investor optimism. Industry analysts believe the policy will encourage AI-related job growth, domestic manufacturing, and a more aggressive export strategy, especially as the U.S. competes with China in the global AI race.

The action plan, while praised by business leaders, has drawn mixed responses from civil society groups concerned about potential bias filtering and environmental costs of increased infrastructure projects.
