North Korea Releases Photos Amid Kim Death Rumours
Unverified claims about the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have spread across social media, triggering speculation about a possible leadership change in Pyongyang. The allegations, circulated on October 19 and 20, 2026, suggest that Kim suffered a brain haemorrhage and that his sister, Kim Yo Jong, assumed control. However, newly released North Korean state media photographs show Kim attending a public event, contradicting reports of his death.
Kim Jong Un Death Rumours Spread Online
The speculation began after Wanjun Xie, a US-based Chinese dissident associated with the China Democracy Party, claimed that Kim had suffered a severe cerebral haemorrhage.
Xie alleged that Chinese medical specialists travelled to North Korea before Kim was transferred to Beijing for emergency treatment, where he supposedly died.
No official confirmation or independently verified evidence supports these allegations.
Kim Yo Jong Allegedly Takes Power in North Korea
Xie further claimed that Kim’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, had assumed control instead of his daughter, Kim Ju Ae.
He also alleged that approximately 9,000 Chinese troops had entered Pyongyang amid fears of a succession crisis.
Neither Beijing nor Pyongyang has confirmed a Chinese military deployment or leadership transition.
Separately, Kim Yo Jong recently warned South Korea about possible additional military measures along their disputed border.
North Korea Releases Fresh Kim Jong Un Photographs
On October 20, North Korean state media released photographs reportedly showing Kim Jong Un inspecting children’s footwear and women’s clothing at an exhibition in Pyongyang.
The images emerged after the death rumours began circulating, although their release did not include a detailed official statement about his health.
There is currently no verified evidence that Kim Jong Un has died, that his sister has assumed leadership, or that China has deployed troops to support a political transition.
