Nicholas Pooran Appointed TKR Captain for CPL 2025
Nicholas Pooran has been officially named captain of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) ahead of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 season, succeeding Kieron Pollard who led the team from 2019.
New Leadership Transition
Pooran steps into the leadership role at a pivotal moment, taking over from Pollard, who guided TKR to multiple playoff appearances and the memorable unbeaten championship in 2020.
Veteran Support on Field
Despite the leadership change, TKR’s squad remains rich with experience. Pollard continues to play, joined by seasoned campaigners Sunil Narine and Andre Russell—offering Pooran plenty of on-field guidance.
Legacy and Responsibility
Pooran, who holds the distinction of being CPL’s youngest debutant, expressed deep pride at being entrusted with captaincy. He described the role as a significant responsibility passed on from Dwayne Bravo to Pollard and now to him—one he hopes to honour with his decision-making and leadership on the field.
Season Outlook
TKR will begin their CPL campaign on August 17 against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at Warner Park. With Pooran at the helm and a strong support system around him, the franchise aims to continue its winning legacy in the T20 competition.
