Netanyahu Pens Note for Returning Hostages

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara have written a handwritten note for the Israeli hostages who were freed after years in captivity. The note, included in special welcome kits, read:

“On behalf of the entire people of Israel, welcome back! We have been waiting for you. We embrace you. — Sara and Benjamin Netanyahu”

The government has prepared kits containing clothing, toiletries, a laptop, a mobile phone, and a tablet to support the hostages in their reintegration. Officials said the items were chosen to help them regain a sense of normalcy after prolonged confinement.

Hostage Release Context

The release of 20 Israeli hostages came under a negotiated ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. The hostages were held for more than two years following the October 7, 2023 attacks that plunged the region into conflict.

As part of the deal, Israel is expected to release about 2,000 Palestinian detainees in exchange for the surviving hostages. Families of the freed hostages have welcomed the move but stressed that many more remain in captivity, urging the government to intensify negotiations for their release.
