Netanyahu Declares Postwar Gaza Will Have “No Hamas”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has firmly stated that Hamas will have no role in Gaza’s postwar future, even as negotiations for a U.S.-backed 60-day ceasefire continue. Speaking during a visit to a pipeline facility, Netanyahu declared, “I am announcing to you – there will be no Hamas,” sending a clear message that the elimination of the group remains central to Israel’s war objectives.

Ceasefire Framework Under Discussion

The proposed ceasefire, brokered by the U.S. with mediation from Egypt and Qatar, outlines a phased plan. It includes the release of hostages held by Hamas, a partial withdrawal of Israeli troops, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid deliveries by international agencies. While Israel has shown conditional acceptance of the draft, Hamas’s formal response remains pending.

Firm Stance Against Hamas

Despite engaging in diplomatic efforts, Netanyahu reaffirmed his resolve to “destroy Hamas to its very foundation.” He emphasized that Gaza must not revert to being a Hamas-controlled territory and stated that Israel will not accept any governance model that includes the group in any capacity.

Hamas Response and Conditions

Hamas has expressed preliminary willingness to discuss a ceasefire but has insisted on Israel halting its military campaign and a full withdrawal from Gaza. However, core disagreements—particularly around the disarmament and dissolution of Hamas—remain unresolved. The group has so far refused to accept Israel’s postwar conditions.

Mounting Humanitarian Toll

The ongoing conflict has caused immense civilian suffering. With over 57,000 Palestinian deaths reported, the humanitarian crisis has deepened, prompting international calls for immediate relief. Infrastructure across Gaza has been decimated, and hundreds of thousands have been displaced, adding urgency to ceasefire negotiations.
