NCP Leader Baba Siddique Shot Dead in Mumbai, Two Suspects Detained
Baba Siddique, a senior leader of the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead in Mumbai on October 12.
The shooting occurred outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s MLA office near Colgate Ground in Nirmal Nagar, Bandra. According to reports, two to three rounds were fired, and Siddique was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Two Suspects Detained, One at Large
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed that two alleged shooters have been detained. One of the suspects is from Uttar Pradesh, while the other hails from Haryana. A third suspect managed to flee the scene, and efforts are underway to apprehend him. CM Shinde emphasized that strict action will be taken, and expressed confidence in the Mumbai Police’s ability to bring the third suspect to justice.

The shooting has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra, coming just ahead of the state’s Assembly elections. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed his deep sorrow over the loss, describing Siddique as a close colleague and friend. He condemned the attack as cowardly and paid tribute to Siddique, who had long been a fixture in Maharashtra’s political landscape.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities continue to probe the motive behind the attack and search for the absconding suspect.
