NC Dominates J&K Assembly Polls 2024; PDP Loses Ground

The 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections have witnessed a dramatic shift in political power, with the National Conference (NC) making significant gains and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) suffering major losses.

According to the latest data, NC has secured a 47% share of the seats, a considerable increase from its 17% share in the 2014 elections. In contrast, PDP’s fortunes have declined sharply, with the party losing 25 seats, bringing its current seat share down to just 7%.

J&K Assembly Polls 2024 Analysis

The results highlight a clear shift in the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains a prominent player, securing 32% of the seats, a slight increase from its 29% seat share in 2014. The Indian National Congress (INC) has also seen a downturn, holding onto just 7% of the seats, a significant drop from its 14% share in the previous elections.

The 2024 elections mark a reversal of fortunes for NC and PDP. The NC, which saw a substantial decline in 2014, has regained its stronghold in the region. Meanwhile, PDP, which once had a robust 32% share in 2014, now holds a much-reduced presence in the assembly.

PDP Faces Significant Decline

The decline in PDP’s seat share can be attributed to the changing political sentiments in the state. Voters appear to have shifted their support to other parties, leading to a redistribution of political power in the region. NC’s resurgence has contributed to PDP’s decline, making it a key talking point in the post-election analysis.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024 have set the stage for a new political era in the state, with NC emerging as the primary force.
