Navarro Dismisses BRICS Alliance as Doomed
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro sharply criticized the BRICS alliance—comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—calling the group “vampires” that “suck our blood dry” with unfair trade practices. He said none of the member nations could survive without access to the U.S. market and declared, “I don’t see the BRICS alliance lasting.”
Dig at India–China Tensions
Navarro also pointed to tensions between India and China, stressing that their long-standing border disputes weaken the cohesion of the BRICS grouping. He suggested that these internal strains make the bloc’s unity unsustainable.
Oil and Tariffs Edge
Navarro repeated his criticism of India’s purchase of discounted Russian oil, saying such imports indirectly fund Moscow’s war effort. His remarks came alongside the Trump administration’s decision to impose 50 percent tariffs on Indian goods, including a 25 percent penalty linked to Russian oil imports.
