Naidu Announces February Start For Mega Steel Plant

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said groundwork for the proposed ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel plant in the state will begin after mid-February. The announcement was made after discussions with company representatives, where timelines and preparatory work were reviewed.

Project Details

The integrated steel plant is planned in Anakapalli district and is projected to be one of the largest industrial investments in Andhra Pradesh. The project is expected to involve an investment of around ₹60,000 crore and generate large-scale direct and indirect employment once operational. State officials have been instructed to complete land acquisition, approvals, and infrastructure readiness ahead of the foundation work.

Government Stand

Naidu said the state government will extend full support to ensure smooth execution of the project and will coordinate with the central government wherever required. He stressed that the plant would play a key role in boosting industrial growth, exports, and regional development.

What Comes Next

With timelines now outlined, preparatory work is expected to accelerate so that construction activity can begin soon after February, marking a major industrial milestone for the state.
