Nagaland Reviews Census 2027 House Listing
Director of Census Operations Dr Kenei Miachieo reviewed the house listing exercise in Meluri with district officials, charge officers and liaison officers.
He said reliable information collected during the first phase would form the foundation for later census activities. Officials were directed to ensure that every household was covered and that incorrect or false entries were avoided.
The House Listing Operations and Housing Census are being conducted across Nagaland from July 1 to July 30, 2026.
Districts Seek Public Support for Census
Separate review and awareness meetings were held in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland and Chiephobozou.
In East Dimapur, councillors and Gaon Buras were asked to support enumerators and encourage residents to provide accurate information. Urban Local Body representatives in Chümoukedima were also urged to spread awareness about the importance of the exercise.
Niuland officials said sketch maps of wards and colonies had been prepared in consultation with local leaders to support complete household coverage.
Authorities clarified that the census was not connected to electoral rolls, delimitation, Aadhaar or PAN cards.
Census Officials Stress Accurate Enumeration
Officials explained that people residing at a location for more than six months should generally be counted at their present place of residence rather than their native village.
Supervisors were instructed to conduct field visits and random checks, resolve operational difficulties and protect the confidentiality of information collected from households.
More than 6,000 personnel have been deployed across Nagaland’s 17 districts for the first phase. The second phase, involving population enumeration and the collection of demographic and economic information, is scheduled for February 2027.
