Muttaqi Cancels Taj Visit, No Reason Given
Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, abruptly canceled his planned visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra on Sunday. District officials confirmed there was no official explanation for the change in itinerary.
Itinerary Plans
Muttaqi was supposed to travel by road from New Delhi to Agra’s Shilpgram and then proceed to the monument. He had been expected to spend roughly 90 minutes at the Taj Mahal before returning to the capital.
Local Officials Speak
Agra’s Deputy Commissioner of Police said the cancellation was ordered from Delhi but did not provide further details. The Archaeological Survey of India also acknowledged the visit was called off but declined to offer any reasons.
Diplomatic Visit Context
Muttaqi arrived in India on a six-day diplomatic trip aimed at strengthening ties. He has already met Indian officials and visited places such as the Darul Uloom Deoband seminary in Uttar Pradesh. This Taj Mahal visit was to be a symbolic part of the agenda.
