Mumbai Monorail Halts in Wadala; 17 Rescued

A Mumbai Monorail train stopped suddenly on Monday morning due to a technical fault, leaving 17 passengers stranded. The incident took place around 7:16 AM between Antop Hill Bus Depot and GTBN stations in Wadala. All passengers were safely rescued and shifted to another train. No injuries were reported.

Cause of the Disruption

Officials confirmed that the stoppage was caused by a power supply failure. The rescue operation took about 45 minutes, after which services were gradually restored.

MMRDA’s Response

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) issued a statement apologising for the inconvenience caused to passengers. It has ordered a detailed inspection of the faulty rake to identify the cause and prevent recurrence.

Service Concerns

This is not the first time the Mumbai Monorail has faced operational issues. Previous breakdowns, often linked to technical faults and heavy rains, have raised commuter concerns. Local representatives have called for long-term solutions to ensure reliable services.
