Mukesh Ambani Predicts Lower Energy Imports for India
India’s dependence on imported energy is expected to decline significantly over the next decade as domestic production, renewable expansion and alternative fuels increase, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said while outlining the country’s evolving energy strategy.
Mukesh Ambani India Energy Import Forecast
Mukesh Ambani stated India currently imports a large portion of its energy requirements but this share will fall below 80 percent in the coming years. He said growth in solar, wind, bioenergy and hydrogen technologies will reduce reliance on overseas fuel supplies while supporting industrial demand.
He added that long term investments in infrastructure and manufacturing capacity are aimed at strengthening domestic energy resilience.
India Renewable Energy Expansion
India has been rapidly expanding renewable generation capacity, including solar parks, offshore wind and green hydrogen projects. Companies are investing in battery storage, grid modernisation and clean fuel production to support large scale electrification.
Ambani said the transition will not replace conventional fuels immediately but will gradually rebalance the energy mix toward domestic sources.
Energy Security and Industrial Demand
Officials have emphasised that rising consumption requires both traditional and new energy sources. Increasing domestic output combined with clean energy deployment is expected to stabilise supply and protect against global price volatility.
The shift reflects broader efforts to improve energy security while meeting economic growth and climate targets.
