Mossad Uncovers Network Behind Adani Targeting

In a startling claim, fact-checker Vijay Patel has alleged that Israeli intelligence agency Mossad uncovered a sophisticated international network aimed at discrediting the Adani Group and undermining India’s economic interests. According to Patel, the operation began after Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani visited Israel on January 31, 2023, to finalize the $1.2 billion Haifa seaport deal. It was during this visit that discussions reportedly led to the launch of a surveillance operation dubbed “Operation Zeppelin.”

Patel claims that Mossad’s monitoring of Hindenburg Research’s activities unearthed a web involving activist lawyers, select journalists, hedge funds, and politically linked figures. He alleged that Mossad agents even infiltrated an office in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, where they discovered encrypted communications between several asset management firms and activist networks spanning across India, the United States, Europe, Canada, and Australia.

“When Mossad agents started to monitor the Hindenburg office, they found a complex web of activist lawyers, journalists, hedge funds, and politicians,” Patel claimed in his statement.

Alleged Political Ties and Coordinated Messaging

Patel also pointed to an instance where, just minutes after a news story on legal proceedings against the Adani Group was published, a political figure from the Indian Overseas Congress tweeted about it. He suggested that this timing was unlikely to be coincidental and hinted at coordinated efforts to influence public perception against Adani and possibly India at large.

While the identities of those allegedly involved in this global network remain unclear, Patel’s account has added fuel to the already charged debate surrounding the motives behind the Hindenburg report on Adani.

Hindenburg Research’s Closure

In January 2025, shortly after the U.S. presidential election, Hindenburg Research announced it was shutting down. Founder Nate Anderson stated that the firm had completed all its planned projects. This announcement came nearly two years after the group released its explosive report accusing Adani Group of stock manipulation and accounting fraud.

Adani Group had strongly rebutted those allegations, describing them as politically motivated and designed to derail India’s growth story. The conglomerate saw a rebound in its market valuation following a strategic public defense and restructuring of certain business operations.

Broader Implications for India’s Economic Security

The alleged findings of Mossad, if verified, raise critical concerns about external attempts to destabilize India through financial manipulation. Political commentators have begun referring to such efforts as “economic terrorism,” suggesting that the motives extend beyond corporate competition to strategic disruption.

These claims have intensified the spotlight on the need for national and international vigilance in protecting economic sovereignty. As debate over the alleged conspiracy continues, the government is expected to face questions over its preparedness to tackle such covert operations aimed at undermining major Indian enterprises.
